Mako robot
Our surgeons are now able to offer Mako robotic-arm assisted surgery at Beleura Private Hospital for partial knee and total knee replacement surgeries.
The Surgical Treatment
It all begins with a CT scan of your knee joint that is used to generate a 3D virtual model of your unique anatomy. This virtual model is loaded into the Mako System software and is used by your surgeon to create your personalized pre-operative plan.
When the surgeon prepares the bone for implant, the MAKO system guides the surgeon within a pre-defined area ultimately assisting in maximum placement accuracy and alignment of the implant. The soft tissue (muscles and ligaments) around the knee are minimally disrupted which translates to faster recovery time and less postoperative pain.
Benefits of robotic surgery
According to Stryker the Robotic-arm assisted knee surgery could potentially result in a more rapid recovery and a shorter hospital stay than traditional total knee replacement surgery, as well as a more natural feeling knee following surgery.
For partial knee, it is a procedure to relieve the pain caused by joint degeneration due to osteoarthritis in one or two compartments of the knee.
