Our Day Rehabilitation service is specifically designed to meet individual needs serving patients in the Mornington area. Day rehabilitation involves individually tailored rehabilitation that is delivered either one on one or in a group setting. Day Rehabilitation at Beleura Private Hospital runs five days a week (Monday to Friday).

  • How do I book in?

    To attend the Day Rehabilitation Program, we require a signed referral from a GP or a specialist to one of our Rehabilitation Specialists. 

    Once you have been referred to the program by your specialist, GP or referring hospital, you will be contacted by the Program Co-ordinator to arrange a suitable starting date.

    Oncology (Cancer) Rehabilitation Program, ACTIVATE

    Our multidisciplinary Oncology (Cancer) rehabilitation Program, ACTIVATE at Beleura Private Hospital in Mornington, is for people who have a primary diagnosis of cancer, either currently undergoing cancer treatment or who have recently completed treatment.

    The aim of this program is to help people, regardless of where they are on their cancer journey, lead an active and fulfilling lifestyle. The program consists of an individualised structured exercise program and education sessions from a range of allied health professionals.

    Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Program

    Our Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Program at Beleura Private Hospital in Mornington is tailored for patients who

    • Have undergone or are about to undergo joint replacement surgery
    • Have suffered a recent fracture 
    • Have undergone spinal surgery such as a fusion, discectomy or laminectomy 
    • Need to improve the way they walk
    • Need treatment to improve strength, mobility, flexibility, endurance and balance
    • Need to improve their ability to do everyday activities

    We work together to improve your capacity to undertake daily activities and to mobilise safely and independently at home and in the community.

    Reconditioning Rehabilitation Program

    Our Reconditioning Rehabilitation Program at Beleura Private Hospital in Mornington is designed for patients who

    • Have recently experienced a serious acute episode of illness
    • Undergone a surgical procedure 
    • Have a chronic medical condition
    • Need treatment to improve strength, endurance and balance
    • Need to improve their ability to do everyday activities 

     

    Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

    Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Beleura Private Hospital in Mornington is tailored for patients who:

    • Have experienced a heart attack or a hospital admission for angina
    • Have a stent procedure or heart surgery (bypass, valve, or artery surgery) 
    • Have heart failure or cardiomyopathy 
    • Have a device inserted to help your heart function (such as a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator)
    • Have a diagnosis of congenital, ischaemic, or coronary heart disease
    • Have in-heart electrical rhythm problems, such as atrial fibrillation
    • Experience risk factors associated with heart disease

    We work together to improve your capacity to undertake daily activities at home and in the community and return to previous lifestyle hobbies. The multi-disciplinary program combines health education, exercise, and support for participants in a small group environment. The exercise sessions are tailored to your current level of activity and encourage a gradual increase in activity.

    Parkinson’s Rehabilitation Program

    Our Parkinson’s Disease Program can help you:

    • Improve your symptoms and enhance your quality of life.
    • Maintain an optimal level of physical functioning, at home and in the community.
    • Improve your ability to participate in everyday activities such as walking, standing up, doing the shopping and driving.
    • Improve your emotional wellbeing and promote your independence.
    • Feel empowered to take control and self-manage your condition and reduce your need to visit hospital and other medical services

    The program has been specially designed for people with Parkinson’s disease or Parkinsonian symptoms who are motivated to take control of their health. You may be eligible to participate if you are in the early-to-moderate stages of Parkinson’s disease, and can walk 100m including with the use of a gait aid. The program is an exercise-based and education program held one day a week for 10 weeks. At the start of this program, you will undergo a thorough assessment by a physiotherapist and occupational therapist. This specially-skilled group of health professionals will teach you the fundamentals of exercise to support you to self-manage your condition. You will participate in weekly group exercise and small group therapy sessions designed to meet your physical and emotional supportive needs.

    Falls and Balance Rehabilitation Program

    Our Falls and Balance program is designed for individuals who have experienced a fall, a decline in balance or mobility, or who are at risk of falling. This may include those with a fear of falling. The program can help

    • Improve balance in a variety of situations and environments
    • Increase confidence with balance and mobility
    • Improve walking mobility on a variety of surfaces
