Southern Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons is a specialist practice based in Mornington and Frankston and consists of a friendly and professional team of surgeons and their support staff. Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is the surgical specialty which deals with the diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects in the Oral and Maxillofacial regions (the
facial skeleton and its associated structures). As a Specialist at the interface of Medicine and Dentistry, contemporary maxillofacial surgeons hold a Medical degree, Dental degree and specialist surgical training (15 years of training).
Sunia studied Medicine (MBBS) in Hobart at the University of Tasmania and dentistry at the University of Adelaide. He completed his Postgraduate training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and obtained Fellowship in Maxillofacial Surgery in 1998. Sunia also completed a Masters degree in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery through the University of
Adelaide in 2000. (Sunia worked previously as a Senior Lecturer in Oral Surgery at the Fiji School of Medicine 1997-2000)
Sunia lives and works on the Mornington Peninsula. He has been in practice with Dr Brian McMillan for over 15 years continuously providing care and treatment for patients including efficient on-call availability for postoperative care.
