Dr Peter McCombe is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon working exclusively on the Mornington Peninsula. Over his career he has consulted and operated in all areas of Orthopaedic Surgery but has now subspecialised to conditions of the hip and knee joints. His particular interests include hip and knee replacements, both primary and revision procedures. He also treats other conditions of the hip and knee and is happy to provide second opinions in this space. Peter has had a wide and varied career in Orthopaedics. He acted as an Examiner in Orthopaedics for 9 years and was Unit Head of the Orthopaedic Department at Frankston Hospital for many years. He continues to be a member of the Arthroplasty Society which is a subgroup of the Australian Orthopaedic Society that sets the standards of Joint Replacement in Australia. Peter has lived and worked on the Mornington Peninsula for over 30 years
now and is an active member of the local community.
Background/Training:
He completed medicine at Melbourne University in 1979 and qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1988. After gaining experience in England and the USA in the field of joint replacement surgery, he settled and started practice on the Mornington Peninsula. Over the years his practice has become centred on Hip and Knee Joint Replacement. Surgery is performed mainly at Beleura Private Hospital in Mornington. Trauma surgery has also been an interest, primarily at Frankston Hospital.
Peter has always enjoyed teaching and was an examiner in Orthopaedics for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons for many years.
