Following surgery, an accident or a major illness, you may notice some reduction in your usual ability to cope with everyday activities. This can often be a very difficult experience for you and your family.

Rehabilitation provides the care, therapy and support needed to assist you towards attaining maximum independence.

Beleura Private Hospital’s Rehabilitation Unit provides a specialist 30 bed inpatient facility and comprehensive outpatient day rehabilitation services. It is a progressive healthcare organisation that is committed to restoring an individual’s quality of life to its optimal level. We are fully equipped with a hydrotherapy pool, physiotherapy gymnasium, occupational therapy department, speech pathology area and other therapy facilities. Therapy is provided seven days a week.

On admission to Beleura you will be assessed by a multidisciplinary team who will establish an individualised plan of therapy in consultation with you. Together, realistic goals will be set.

A medical specialist in rehabilitation will oversee your therapy program and monitor your progress in conjunction with other team members. The nurse in charge will co-ordinate your care and is available to discuss any concerns that may arise. Nursing care is provided 24 hours a day and Therapy services such as Physiotherapy are provided over 7 days a week.

Our rehabilitation team consists of Rehabilitation Specialist, Nursing Staff, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Speech Pathologist, Exercise Physiologist, Dietitian, Diabetic Educator, Psychologist and Social Worker.

These professionals design and implement programs to enable patients to achieve the highest level of independence in both the hospital setting and on return to home, work and leisure pursuits. Weekly case conferences of the rehabilitation team are conducted to assess each individual’s program and progress.

Our Day Rehabilitation service is specifically designed to meet individual needs. It involves tailored rehabilitation that is delivered either one on one or in a group setting. Day Rehabilitation runs five days a week – Monday to Friday.

Our Day Programs include:

Orthopaedic Rehabilitation

This program is tailored for patients who;

  • Have undergone joint replacement or spinal injury
  • Have suffered a recent fracture, trauma or injury
  • Have noticed a decline in balance, mobility or have a history of falls effecting safety
  • Need to improve their ability to do everyday activities

Reconditioning Rehabilitation

This program is tailored for patients who;

  • Have recently experienced a flare up of an acute medical illness
  • Have undergone a recent surgical procedure
  • Have had an exacerbation of a chronic medical condition
  • Have noticed a decline or deterioration in function or ability to perform everyday tasks
  • Require treatment to improve strength, balance and endurance
  • May be deconditioned as a result of cancer or following cancer treatment
